O-ring material classification and selection

O-ring materials include nitrile rubber (NBR), fluoro rubber (FKM), silicone rubber (VMQ), ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM), chloroprene rubber (CR), butyl rubber (BU), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), natural rubber (NR), etc.

Choose O-ring material, mainly consider the following 6 factors:

1) The working state of the O-ring: Is this O-ring used for static sealing or dynamic sealing, sliding or rotating;

2) The working state of the machine: refers to whether the machine is in contact work or intermittent work, and the length of each intermittent time should be considered, whether there is an impact load on the sealing part;

3) The situation of the working medium: whether the working medium is liquefied or gas, and consider the physical and chemical properties of the working medium;

4) Working pressure: the size of the pressure, the amplitude and frequency of fluctuations, and the maximum pressure that appears instantaneously;

5) Working temperature: including instantaneous temperature and hot; cold alternating temperature;

6) O-ring price factors and so on.
